A few things to think about when CHOOSING your style ...

Your Bridal Hair

What to do with your hair on your wedding day is one of the most important decisions that brides-to-be are faced with and can lead to some anxious moments in a bid to get it just right when choosing your style.

For modern brides, there are no right/wrong wedding styles, and while there will always be certain looks that are on trend, often due to a celebrity wedding, it's always best to keep an open mind and explore as many options as possible to decide what’s right for you.

The first step is to understand what your hairstyle options are.  Many factors may influence your choice, your face shape, dress, the venue and climate, tiara, veil or accessories and of course, very importantly, what can realistically be achieved with your own hair.

FACE Shape
The basic rule for face shapes is that if you have a round face, an up-do that would add some height or a sleek ‘do that doesn’t add extra width would be complementary.  For a long face, styles with volume and extra width work well.

Some brides may not like their ears and therefore want a loose style, some may want to achieve a little mini face-lift and therefore have it tightly scraped back, the possibilities are endless, these are very basic guideline and shouldn’t be taken too literally if you think you would suit, or prefer something else.

YOUR Dress
Once you have chosen your dress, you should give consideration to the neckline, particularly when it comes to your hairstyle.  If you have a neckline that is very detailed, you may want to choose a simple hairstyle to as not to detract or perhaps if you have a lot of detail on the bodice at the back you may consider putting your hair up so as not to hide it.

VENUE & Climate
For many brides, getting married in the summer months when the weather can be exceptionally hot, wearing thick and heavy hair down can become uncomfortable, especially with a heavy dress and lots of dancing so that could be a good reason to consider an up-do.  Equally, in the winter months when you are likely to encounter wet and windy weather, a hairstyle that will stay in place and not whip across your face or have curls that might get wet and drop is an advantage. 

If you are getting marred within the confines of your venue and it’s not totally necessary to go out if the weather is bad, these considerations are not as vital but if you have to go from home to church and then from church to venue, it is worth thinking about the effect of this on your hairstyle

TIARA, Veil & Accessories
There are lots of different styles of tiaras, veil and accessories and all can have make a difference to how you have your hair for your wedding day.  Some tiaras are so big that only ‘big’ hair will do to keep things in proportion, others may just be a simple band that would be lost in anything other than a simple sleek style.  Chignons, either to the side or nape of the neck look beautiful with a few sparkly pins for a bride not wanting to go a far as wearing a tiara or fresh flowers perfectly compliment as loose country style wedding. 

Veils also, have a bearing on things.  You will need to decide if you would like your veil to come over your face, if so then it will have to be placed towards the front of a hairstyle whereas for those not really wanting the veil to be so prominent, tucked in underneath and up do at the back would mean a bride could wear it all day and night and not be bothered by it.
